Blue Origin: The Movie, the documentary about the creation and launch of Blue Origin’s first crewed mission to space, will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will act as director, executive producer, and star.
The film traces Bezos’ interest in space travel from a young age, when, as a high school senior, he proposed a park that would orbit the Earth, populated with people. The film then moves to the origin story of the Amazon company, detailing how it devastated hundreds and hundreds of companies and their employees on its way to online shopping dominance - but then, the doc moves on to the good stuff: the launch of Jeff Bezos into space.
The film features exclusive behind-the-scenes access of Bezos training for the spaceflight, along with the 18-year-old son-of-a-billionaire Oliver Daemen, who was also on the 10-minute flight. Two other non-billionaire affiliated crew members are also featured in minor roles.
The movie features exclusive footage of Jeff Bezos donning his spacesuit, walking to the launch pad, entering the launch vehicle, and counting down to 10. It also features an exclusive 10-minute long montage of Bezos inside the vehicle as the spacecraft reaches the Karman Line and then returns, and highlights Bezos exiting the vehicle and enthusiastically high-fiving everyone, and then pulling out his phone and checking Amazon’s stock price.
All Amazon workers will receive a free enhanced Blu-ray version of Blue Origin: The Movie, with director’s commentary by Bezos.
